In this 1.5-hour clinically focused class, you will gain:

  • A comprehensive understanding of trauma-related patterns and their clinical presentations
  • Practical skills for creating a safe, trauma-informed treatment environment
  • Specific acupuncture protocols for each phase of trauma recovery
  • A clear framework for applying Shang Han Lun herbal strategies in trauma cases
  • Essential clinical guidelines for the three phases of treatment: Reconnection, Release, and Rebuild
  • Key strategies for integrating TCM care with other therapeutic modalities

Course Overview

Sexual abuse and trauma create profound disruptions in the body’s energetic systems, particularly affecting the Chong Mai and the Heart-Kidney axis. As TCM practitioners, we are uniquely positioned to support survivors through their healing journey using the time-tested approaches of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. However, effective treatment requires more than technical expertise—it demands a thorough understanding of energetic patterns, careful attention to clinical boundaries, and a trauma-informed approach to care.

This 1 hour clinically-focused course provides practitioners with essential tools for treating trauma survivors safely and effectively. Drawing from classical texts like the Shang Han Lun and decades of clinical experience, this presentation emphasizes practical treatment strategies while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries. Learn how to recognize trauma patterns, implement phase-appropriate treatments, and integrate Chinese medicine with other therapeutic modalities for optimal patient care.

  • John provided a very succinct presentation of this topic and provided us with enormous valuable content.

    January 19, 2025

John provided a very succinct presentation of this topic and provided us with enormous valuable content. We are reminded our patient may be presenting with a condition but has a secret underlying trauma that has not been communicated to us the practitioner. The acupuncture point therapy referencing ion pumping cords and the use of visualization for the patient was really useful. Using GUI ZHI (to adjust YIN & WEI) as the basis of all the Herbal Formulas is an exciting different perspective on how to use them outside of traditional education. With this information we can also address other emotional issues as was mentioned during question time, such as terror experienced in War Zones (and I was thinking of returning soldiers with PTSD and other traumas following accidents (automobile) or surgery etc. Thank you John this was INSPIRING.
