Course Overview

“Hi all!

I started studying Chinese medicine a year ago. Because it’s so wholesome and different from what I’m used to, I find myself getting lost in books. There’s just so much, and everything is interconnected. How did you manage to get through all this? Can you give me any advice?”

This course responds to this Reddit post.

Chinese medicine is a vast and intricate field, where the interplay of ancient wisdom and modern application often feels like navigating a dense forest. In this course, you will discover efficient study methods for TCM, including insights and techniques honed through my own journey, which included traditional apprenticeships, academic training, and clinical practice across continents. The goal is simple: to help you build a solid foundation and a flexible system for lifelong learning in Chinese medicine.

Key Themes Covered:

  • The basics: why your foundation in TCM matters and how to make it unshakeable.
  • Study smarter, not harder: tools like structured schedules, mind mapping, and biological rhythms.
  • Balancing tradition and innovation: integrating ancient philosophies with contemporary methods.
  • The mindset shift: from merely memorizing to deeply understanding the “why” behind TCM theories.
  • Building your web of knowledge: connecting the dots for better clinical application and personal growth.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the endless interconnectedness of TCM concepts, this session provides actionable advice, practical tools, and an empathetic perspective to guide your way. Whether you’re a student or a seasoned practitioner, there’s something here for you—from rethinking note-taking to applying the philosophy of the I Ching to your studies. Let’s redefine how we see the mountain together.

About the Teacher

Rachel Cheng, RCMP (Hong Kong)

Rachel Cheng's journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) began in her teenage years at an acupuncture clinic. Captivated by this ancient healing art, she pursued a Bachelor's and Master's degree in TCM and Acupuncture at Hong Kong Baptist University. As a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner in Hong Kong, Rachel gained extensive experience in general practice, managing a broad spectrum of health conditions. Despite seven years of rigorous academic training, the realities of clinical practice often felt both overwhelming and intricate. A pivotal moment in Rachel's professional development came when she undertook a three-year apprenticeship with a seasoned mentor. This mentorship filled critical gaps in her knowledge, answered longstanding questions, and opened doors to new possibilities that formal education had not fully explored. In 2015, Rachel moved to Slovenia, a small country in Central Europe, marking the start of a new chapter in her career. Here, she faced fresh challenges and gained new perspectives on TCM. Alongside her busy clinical practice, Rachel collaborates with both national and international schools and organizations, focusing on advancing TCM education and advocacy. Her work is dedicated to enhancing the integration of ancient wisdom into modern healthcare, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness in today’s world.
