Gentle Neoclassical Japanese Approaches for Sensitive and Traumatized Patients

In 2011 Japan was struck by a devastating earthquake and tsunami. Novel approaches were developed in the field as acupuncturists arrived on the scene to help. These strategies make a good deal of sense in light of the research of Stephen Porges, PhD and his Polyvagal theory. The effectiveness of these new therapies in Japan that utilize non-insertive techniques largely appears to likely be explained by an increase in vagal tone.

Course Overview

In recent years, numerous researchers have focused on the critical role of trauma recovery in successfully dealing with serious illnesses such as cancer and autoimmune conditions. The more adverse childhood events (ACES) one has experienced, the more likely one is to develop a disease later in life serious illness, and the more difficult it will be to recover.

In 2011, Japan was struck by a devastating earthquake and tsunami. Novel approaches were developed in the field as acupuncturists arrived on the scene to help. These strategies make a good deal of sense in light of the research of Stephen Porges, PhD and his Polyvagal theory. The effectiveness of these new therapies in Japan that utilize non-insertive acupuncture techniques largely appears to likely be explained by an increase in vagal tone.

In this course, these therapies will be demonstrated and discussed.
