Mark Petruzzi is director of the Traditional Japanese Acupuncture Institute (TJAI) in New York. He is the appointed acupuncturist at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and Stony Brook Cancer Center. He was adjunct faculty at the New York College of Health Professions from 2005-2022, teaching courses in their Acupuncture and Massage Therapy programs, as well as supervising student interns in the Japanese Acupuncture clinic. Mark was a lead instructor of the TJA team at Tristate College of Acupuncture from 2009-2018 and the acupuncturist and massage therapist for the Adelphi University Dance Program from 2004-2020. He maintains a private practice in Port Jefferson Station, NY.

Mark Petruzzi is a highly respected Licensed Acupuncturist with extensive experience in integrative medicine, focusing on chronic illness, oncology, and education.

Since 2004, he has operated a private practice, The Way of Acupuncture, in Port Jefferson, NY, where he dedicates a significant portion of his work to treating patients with chronic illnesses and cancer.

His approach includes non-insertion and superficial techniques, particularly for pediatric, hypersensitive, and debilitated patients.

He aims to alleviate pain, enhance immune function, support digestion, and manage symptoms such as chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, and fatigue. Mark also brings advanced expertise in Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Neural Manipulation to his practice.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Mark has made substantial contributions to the field through his role as Director at the Traditional Japanese Acupuncture Institute (TJAI) in Syosset, NY, since 2019. Here, he has developed and coordinates a comprehensive post-graduate certification program, teaching across New York, Colorado, and Hawaii. His curriculum integrates insights from master practitioners from North America and Japan, reflecting his commitment to advanced training and cohesive educational experiences.

 

Mark’s influence extends to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he has served as the appointed acupuncturist for the hospital, Children’s Hospital, and Cancer Center since 2013.

He was instrumental in developing the acupuncture program for the Children’s Hospital and continues to provide care for both in-patient and out-patient services.

His expertise is further recognized through his presentations at Pediatric Palliative Care Conferences and the upcoming LI/Metro NY/NJ APHON Conference.

He also contributes as a guest lecturer on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for the Doctoral PT program.

 

Throughout his academic career, Mark has shaped the next generation of practitioners as an adjunct faculty member at NY College of Health Professions from 2005 to 2022, where he taught Japanese Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine theory, and Medical Massage. His role as the lead instructor at Tristate College of Acupuncture from 2009 to 2018 saw him develop and teach an advanced post-graduate certificate program, and he had the honor of delivering the Keynote Address at the 2012 Commencement Ceremony.

 

Mark also played a key role in the Dance Program at Adelphi University from 2004 to 2020, providing essential rehabilitation and optimization treatments for dancers, including pre- and inter-event sessions during performances.
