Zhang Zhongjing, celebrated as the author of the seminal Treatise on Cold Damage Disorders and Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet, profoundly shaped the history of Chinese medicine. Yet, few know that he also authored several other texts, now lost to time—except for the Wu Zang Lun (Five Viscera Theory), rediscovered in 1900 within the hidden library of China’s Mogao Caves at Dunhuang by Taoist priest Wang Yuanlu.

Dr. Yun Xiao, an accomplished acupuncturist, herbalist, and adjunct faculty member at Bastyr University, combines decades of clinical expertise with a passion for Qi-based acupuncture medicine. Co-author of The History and Compilation of Zhang Zhongjing’s Wu Zang Lun, she bridges ancient medical wisdom with modern practice, inspiring the next generation of TCM practitioners.
