Course Overview

If we want to enjoy life as much as possible as long as possible, and actually this is the meaning of „Longevity“, we need to start taking care of ourselves.

In this talk, renown Qigong teacher and acupuncturist Peter Deadman is interviewed by Yair Maimon about his view on longevity and Yang Sheng.

Yang Sheng, “Nourishing Life“, has a long tradition in Chinese Medicine, actually it can be see as the foundation of Chinese Medicine.

We all know that lifestyle has a strong impact on our health. Already the Huang Di Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic) mentions that the superior physician’s task is to prevent disease, rather than heal disease.

The 4 pillars of Yang Sheng:

  • Cultivating the mind and emotions: through meditation, Qigong, slow deep breathing, …
  • Diet: what we eat (good quality) and how we eat (eat less)
  • Cultivation of the body: we should be like water, always move (not over-exert),e.g. Qigong, Neigong, Taiji, Bagua, …
  • Sleep: “sleep is medicine“, overstimulating the mind before sleeping is a main issue (reading, phone, computers, …)
